Domaine du Pegau is a well-known and respected wine producer based in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and it is known for its traditional-styled wines from that appellation and farther afield in the Rhône Valley. The winery was built in 1989 and today the majority of the wines are produced there. Domaine du Pegau owns 21 hectares (52 acres) in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and has access to another 25ha (62 acres) throughout the Rhône. The portfolio includes several red and white expressions of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, using many (if not all) of the 13 permitted grape varieties. In 2011, the domaine purchased Château Pegau, a 60-ha (150-acre) estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape with the aim of creating larger quantities of Côtes du Rhône village wines and Vin de France in both red and rosé expressions. The first vintage was hand-harvested in 2012 and released to the market as a wine that is fruity, fresh and easy to drink. Château Pegau uses Grenache, Syrah, Clairette, Bourboulenc and Cinsaut in their blends as well as a host of other permitted grape varieties.
