FEATURES
🏰 The 2017 Faiveley Chambertin Clos de Beze Les Ouvrees Rodin Grand Cru is a special cuvée from a single parcel of old vines, over 60 years old, within the esteemed Clos de Bèze vineyard. This particular bottling, vinified separately since its inception, has been released as a distinct cuvée since 2010. The 2017 vintage in Burgundy is celebrated as a "Modern Classic," with the Côte de Nuits producing wines of notable quality. The wine's name, "Les Ouvrées Rodin," is a poignant homage to Auguste Rodin, inspired by the historical connection between Marthe Sirieys, Erwan Faiveley's great-grandmother, and Rodin's patron, Maurice Fenaille. It draws its profound complexity from limestone-rich scree soils.
This Pinot Noir displays a deep ruby red hue with purplish glimmers. The nose is complex, offering a combination of fruit, spice, and floral notes, with a more floral-inflected character and an abundance of spice elements adding breadth to airy and cool aromas of primarily red berries. It is remarkably pure, with impressions of very small berries, raspberry, blueberry, and cranberry, and a gentle, velvety texture. The lively palate exhibits exceptional tension, elegant tannins, a hint of white pepper, and menthol notes. It is intense, deep, smooth, elegant, and subtle, perfectly reflecting the character of its historical terroir. The mouthfeel is quite sleek, sappy, focused, and strikingly persistent. This wine is elegant yet serious, with a structured profile that leans towards red fruits with a dash of black cherries, culminating in a regal wine with a long-tailed finish. It is richer, more complex, and more concentrated than the regular Clos de Bèze, with cinnamon spice complementing the dense black cherry and blueberry fruit. 【 A rare and intense single-parcel cuvée from old vines, named in homage to Auguste Rodin, offering exceptional richness and complexity 】
🍴 As a Grand Cru red Burgundy, this wine would pair exquisitely with classic French cuisine, particularly roasted game birds, beef tenderloin, or rich mushroom dishes. Its elegance and complexity also make it a superb match for aged, firm cheeses.
🥂 This profound and elegant wine is expected to mature gracefully for 10-20 years, making it an excellent candidate for long-term cellaring. It is a superb choice for collectors and very special occasions, offering a rich and complex experience that is a step above the regular Clos de Bèze.
