🏰 The 2009 vintage in Bordeaux was exceptional, particularly for the Right Bank appellations like Saint-Émilion, known for producing rich, opulent, and fruit-forward wines with excellent aging potential. While 'Croix de Beausejour' is often associated with Chateau Beausejour, it can refer to a second wine or a different property. Assuming it's a red Bordeaux from Saint-Émilion, the 2009 vintage would have benefited from ideal growing conditions, leading to wines with ripe fruit, supple tannins, and a harmonious balance. Expect a generous palate of dark berries, plum, and perhaps notes of chocolate, spice, and a hint of earthy complexity. 【Opulent Right Bank Vintage】.
🥂 This 2009 Bordeaux is well-suited for a celebratory dinner, a gathering with friends, or as a thoughtful gift for someone who appreciates mature, fruit-driven red wines. It's approachable now but still has plenty of life ahead.
🍴 It pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, duck confit, or rich stews. Its fruit-forward character also makes it a good match for hard cheeses or mushroom risotto.
BACKGROUND
Château Beauséjour - Joséphine Duffau-Lagarrosse is a Saint-Emilion wine estate classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé B in the Right Bank Bordeaux region. It has 6.75 hectares of vineyards, with the majority located on the slopes of the village of Saint-Emilion on clay-limestone soils, and the remainder on slopes. The grape varieties primarily planted are 75% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine of Beausejour is aged in 75% new French oak barrels for about 18 months. Historically, the estate was established in 1847 as part of Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot and later became Chateau Beausejour Duffau-Lagarrosse, owned by the daughter of Pierre-Paulin Ducarpe, who adopted her husband's surname.
