🏰From Lalou Bize-Leroy's personal micro-domaine, this 2003 Meursault Les Narvaux from D'Auvenay is a 【mythical white Burgundy known for its tiny production and exceptional intensity】, even in the warm 2003 vintage. Expect a rich, concentrated Meursault with notes of ripe yellow fruit like apricot and peach, honey, toasted nuts, and butter, all underpinned by significant minerality. Despite the vintage's warmth, D'Auvenay's meticulous biodynamic farming ensures a wine that retains remarkable freshness and precision, culminating in a full-bodied palate and a long, complex finish.
🍴 This luxurious white Burgundy is perfect with rich seafood such as grilled lobster or pan-seared scallops with a creamy butter sauce. It also shines alongside roasted chicken with herbs, foie gras, or mature Comté cheese. For an exquisite Asian pairing, consider steamed garoupa with ginger and spring onion, or a rich crab roe noodle dish.
🥂 This is a wine for a truly luxurious dinner, a celebration of the pinnacle of white Burgundy, or a fascinating tasting to explore how a top producer navigates a warm vintage with such finesse.
BACKGROUND
Domaine d Auvenay is a small Burgundy wine estate located in Saint-Roman. It is the third entity in the Leroy empire, named after Lalou Bize-Leroy and was previously run by her husband Marcel Bize until his death in 2004. There are 4 hectares (10 acres) of vines, but these include plots of the Grand Cru Mazis-Chambertin, Bonnes-Mares and Bâtard-Montrachet, as well as a handful of top cru vineyards, including Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières and Meursault les Gouttes d 'Or.
