Jean Jacques Confuron, Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, 2019
🏰 The 2019 Jean Jacques Confuron Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is a Burgundy red that truly impresses with its 【big and very impressive density in the finish, showing intensity and still some elegance】. This structural wine, from a highly regarded vintage, displays a rich deep crimson to purple color. Its nose, initially quiet, balances without being overripe, revealing a crispness to raspberry fruit that opens to a fleshier finish with oak complexity. With aeration, intense spice, perfume, lavender, purple fruit, stems, and crushed rocks emerge, leading to a complex flavor with layers of fruit.
🍴 This exquisite Grand Cru pairs beautifully with roasted game birds like duck or pigeon, delicate beef preparations such as beef tenderloin with mushrooms, or a rich truffle risotto.
🥂 An exceptional choice for a milestone celebration, a serious Burgundy tasting, or for the discerning collector looking to cellar a wine with superb potential for development.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jean Jacques Confuron is a wine producer located in Premeaux, near Nuits-Saint-Georges in the Côte de Nuits, Burgund, France. The viticultural portfolio is now approximately 95-percent Pinot Noir with small plantings of Chardonnay and Aligoté. The domaine has 8 hectares (19 acres) of vines across 14 appellations, including plots in the prestigious grand cru vineyards Clos de Vougeot and Romanée-Saint-Vivant. The domaine began with the marriage of Jean Confuron and Anne Marie Bouchard in 1926, bringing together the vineyards of two different families. These vineyards have been passed through the family since, and the domaine has expanded as well, picking up plots in the prestigious grand cru sites.
