Georges Mugneret Gibourg, Nuits Saint Georges Au Bas De Combe, 2019
🏰 The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Au Bas de Combe from Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg is a highly acclaimed Burgundy red, noted for its rarity as the smallest cuvée of the domaine, with only two barrels produced in this vintage. This terrific wine exhibits aromas of cassis, plums, woodsmoke, incense, and rich soil tones. It is medium to full-bodied, layered, and intensely concentrated, with elegantly chalky tannins and lively acids, offering a beautiful deep color and a complex, elegant nose. Expect sweet black fruit, particularly black cherries on the palate, with power rather than heat, and a long finish with dark touches.
🍴 This elegant Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with classic Burgundian dishes like Coq au Vin or Boeuf Bourguignon. It also complements roasted poultry such as guinea fowl, game birds, or even a rich mushroom risotto. For a more adventurous pairing, consider dim sum or a cheese soufflé.
🥂 Perfect for a sophisticated dinner party or a special celebration, this wine is a testament to the exceptional 2019 Burgundy vintage, which produced high-quality, age-worthy reds. Its concentration and structure suggest excellent aging potential.
