🏰 The 2015 Joseph Roty Griottes-Chambertin Grand Cru is a magnificent expression from a highly acclaimed vintage. It presents a fragrant, floral bouquet with mineral-rich red berry fruit, hints of mulberry, dates, and violets. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with fine grip, firm tannins, and abundant energy, offering a rich flavor of red cherry and raspberry with nuances of mushroom and clove. This wine is deep and intense, with notable concentration and chalky grip, showcasing more sap and energy than its Mazis-Chambertin counterpart.
🍴 This Grand Cru
🥂 While approachable now for its aromatic complexity and polished tannins, this Griottes-Chambertin possesses the structure and depth to evolve gracefully over the next 15-20 years. It's an ideal choice for a significant celebration or as a prized addition to any serious cellar. 【A masterpiece of craftsmanship and terroir, offering a seamless blend of intensity, elegance, and age-worthy potential】.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Joseph Roty is one of Burgundy's leading wineries with the largest cult following in the country. The family has been producing wine since 1710 and has 12 hectares (30 acres) of vines with an average age of over 60 years, producing a range of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines considered to be some of the best on the Côte d'Or. one. The core estate is none other than Joseph Rotti, himself a legend in the region who died in 2008 not only because of the quality of the wines, but also because of his reluctance to be interviewed by reporters and share details of their winemaking methods.
