DETAILS
Château Montrose is a winery in the Saint-Estèphe appellation of the Bordeaux region of France. The wine produced here was classified as one of fourteen Deuxièmes Crus (Second Growths) in the original Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855.
Local legend claims that a Latin document found in the Agassac winery's cellar indicates its construction began in the 11th century, though the earliest historical records date back to the 13th century. Large, beautiful wine cellars near the winery still store Agassac wines, showcasing its ancient winemaking traditions.
As one of the most renowned wineries in the Haut-Médoc region, Agassac judiciously uses new oak barrels, balancing fruit and wood aromas, and emphasizes gentle extraction to retain the wine's terroir characteristics.
