🏰 The 2018 vintage in Burgundy was largely excellent for both reds and whites, characterized by a hot and dry growing season that led to an early but very successful flowering. This resulted in a generous harvest, particularly for Chardonnay, with red wines showcasing an elegant and classic style, offering richness and concentration. The best reds from this vintage are noted for their intense and voluptuous character, without being overripe. Chateau de Marsannay's Chambertin Grand Cru 2018, a prestigious red Burgundy, embodies this vintage's potential, offering a wine that is both approachable now and capable of further development. 【A Grand Cru Burgundy from an excellent vintage】.
🍴 This Chambertin Grand Cru, with its typical red fruit and earthy notes, pairs beautifully with classic French cuisine such as roasted duck breast with cherry sauce, coq au vin, or beef bourguignon. For an Eastern twist, consider pairing it with Cantonese roasted goose or a delicate Peking duck.
🥂 This wine is perfect for significant celebrations, a sophisticated dinner party, or as a cherished addition to a serious wine collection. It's also an ideal choice for a special anniversary or a memorable gift.
BACKGROUND
Château de Marsannay, located in the Marsannay appellation of Burgundy, France, is the largest and most renowned estate in the region. In addition to the typical Burgundian varieties of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the vineyards also feature distinctive Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris grapes. The estate's history dates back to before the 16th century. The original structure was destroyed by Swiss troops during the reign of King Louis XII of France, and the current château was rebuilt on the same site.
