Confuron Cotetidot, Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru, 2011
🏰 The 2011 Confuron Cotetidot Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru is a fascinating expression from a challenging Burgundy vintage, yet this producer managed to craft a wine with 【excellent depth and a stunningly long finish, offering grand cru level quality】. The 2011 vintage in Burgundy was difficult, with an early budburst and flowering, followed by a severe heatwave. Despite this, Confuron-Cotetidot's Charmes-Chambertin 2011 is noted for its attractive freshness and expressive nose of newly turned earth, dark berry, and a hint of sauvage. Tasting notes mention musky aromas of strawberry, raspberry, and smoke, complicated by mineral and animal fur notes, with lovely inner-mouth floral lift and precision. It's described as broad and sweet, with juicy fruit, precise and clean, well-chiselled with some length. Expect a medium ruby color with slight rim variation, perfumed sweet potpourri with ripe red-black fruits on the nose, and elegant ripe red-black fruits with a hint of rose petals on the palate, intense citrus, and delicate palate-coating tannins, leading to a long red fruit finish.
🍴 This elegant 布根地 (Burgundy) Grand Cru Pinot Noir is a superb match for roasted duck, goose, or other game birds. It also pairs beautifully with earthy dishes like mushroom tarts, truffle pasta, or a classic beef bourguignon.
🥂 Ideal for a celebratory dinner, a special occasion, or a serious tasting with fellow wine enthusiasts. This wine is drinking beautifully now but has the structure to continue evolving. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F). Decanting for 30-60 minutes can help it express its full aromatic complexity.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Chandon de Briailles is a wine producer in the northern part of Côte de Beaune in Burgundy. The winery covers 14 hectares (34 acres) and produces a variety of wines from the Corton Grand Cru. The domaine has been owned by the de Nicolay family since 1834. Countess Chandon de Briailles took over the estate in 1982 and worked to revitalize the estate and its wines. As is the case in much of Burgundy, the estate's white wine is made from Chardonnay and its red from Pinot Noir.
