🏰 The 2021 Louis Jadot Bonnes Mares Grand Cru is a testament to resilience, emerging from a challenging Burgundy vintage with 【a classic, fresher style and notable acidity, offering elegance over overt power】. Despite severe April frosts and mildew leading to extremely low yields, the 2021 reds, particularly from top producers, are celebrated for their refined character and lower alcohol levels compared to recent 'solar' vintages. This Bonnes Mares will showcase the finesse of Pinot Noir, with bright red fruit and a structured yet harmonious palate.
🍴 This Grand Cru Pinot Noir is an exquisite match for sophisticated dishes such as roasted duck breast with cherry reduction, pan-seared foie gras, or delicate game birds. It also pairs beautifully with a well-curated charcuterie board featuring fine cured meats and aged cheeses.
🥂 An exceptional wine for a significant celebration, a connoisseur's tasting, or a romantic dinner. Its refined character and aging potential make it a rewarding experience. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F), ideally after decanting for 30-60 minutes to allow its complex aromas to unfold.
BACKGROUND
Louis Jadot is a prominent Burgundy wine producer and négociant. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the primary grape varieties featured. The house was established in Beaune in 1859 by Louis Jadot. The company has seen several leadership changes: Gagey's son Pierre-Henry took over as president in 1991, Gagey died in 1999, and Lardière retired in 2012. Frédéric Barnier, who joined in 2010, is now the head winemaker, and Thibault Gagey has joined his father Pierre-Henry in leading the firm.
