Chateau Thivin, Cotes De Brouilly Cuvee Zaccharie, 2021
🏰 The 2021 Château Thivin Côte de Brouilly Cuvée Zaccharie showcases the estate's dedication to crafting serious Gamay wines, a philosophy that respects the fruit and terroir of Côte de Brouilly. This vintage, though still young, is already pleasant and offers excellent aging potential for up to 10 years. The wine is a blend from their oldest vines, specifically plots at La Chapelle and Godefroy, and is matured for 11 months in barrels. The Côte de Brouilly region, with its steep southern slopes of Mont de Brouilly, benefits from granite and porphyry soils that ensure good drainage and concentrated flavors. The cool morning shadows and warm afternoon sun create an ideal balance for Gamay, resulting in wines with both ripeness and mineral tension. 【Serious Gamay from a top Beaujolais producer】. This cuvée presents a beautiful deep red color with inviting aromas of dark cherry, ripe plum, blackcurrant, and blackberry, layered with delicate floral notes and a whisper of white pepper. On the palate, it is round and warm with a lot of spices, revealing elegance through silky tannins and vibrant acidity, complemented by a distinctive mineral undertone. The finish is clean, linear, and gracefully persistent.
🍴 This versatile red pairs wonderfully with a fine piece of grilled or sauced beef, game, roasted Cornish hen with herbs and pan juices, or a classic French-style beef daube with mushrooms and pearl onions. For a more casual setting, it's excellent with a well-made charcuterie board featuring cured meats and aged Comté cheese, as well as other goats' cheeses. It also complements pork and pasta dishes.
🥂 The 2021 Cuvée Zaccharie is perfect for a sophisticated dinner party or a celebratory meal, especially given its aging potential, making it suitable for cellaring for future special occasions. It's also a fantastic choice for a relaxed evening with friends, enjoying a charcuterie board.
