🏰The 2014 Jules Desjourneys Chenas Sot L'y Laisse is a 【precise, vibrant, and long-lasting Gamay from an exceptionally good Beaujolais vintage】. The 2014 Beaujolais vintage was healthy, with warm weather early on, followed by a cool summer that retained ripeness and acidity. Chénas wines are known for their floral, earthy characters, and ageability, and this bottling is considered one of the most highly-regarded Beaujolais Cru wines. It offers intense aromas of griotte cherry, with a muscular palate and patinated tannins. Expect a complex and balanced Gamay with prominent cherry flavors, and a truly great, even chicken skin-like, aroma. This wine is ready to drink now and will continue to keep.
🍴 This versatile Beaujolais red is an excellent match for a variety of dishes, including roasted chicken and turkey, pork, veal, pasta, and cured meats. Its vibrant fruit and earthy notes make it a delightful companion to many cuisines.
🥂 Perfect for a 【casual dinner, a lively gathering, or a picnic】, this wine offers immediate enjoyment and a unique expression of Gamay, showcasing its potential for complexity and longevity.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jules Desjourneys is a highly acclaimed estate in Beaujolais and the Mâconnais, founded by Fabien Duperray in 2007. A former fine wine agent, Duperray applies Grand Cru Burgundy standards to his Gamay and Chardonnay, utilizing biodynamic farming and extended aging in glass demijohns or old oak. The Chénas 'Sot l'y Laisse' is a profound, structured Gamay that defies typical Beaujolais expectations, offering deep dark fruit, intense minerality, and the capacity to age for decades.
