Bruno Clavelier, Vosne Romanee Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru, 2004
🏰The 2004 Burgundy red vintage, initially underestimated, is now recognized for producing 【velvet-smooth yet lively Pinot Noir, with top examples showcasing clarity, purity, and a clear sense of terroir】. Domaine Bruno Clavelier, a world-renowned Vosne-Romanée producer, crafts exceptional wines from old vines (mostly 1930s-1940s) in the significant 'Les Beaux Monts' 1er Cru vineyard, known for its potential for Grand Cru weight and complexity. Expect a clear, medium red color with ripe red fruit, raspberry, red cherry, earthy tones, mushroom, and autumn leaves on the nose. The palate is juicy, smooth, and elegant, with beautiful mature fruit, a hint of dried fruit, and rich earthy tones, leading to a long finish.
🍴 This refined Burgundy red would be an excellent match for roasted squab, seared duck breast with morels, saddle of lamb, or aged Époisses cheese.
🥂 A superb choice for a special anniversary, a sophisticated dinner with discerning guests, or a contemplative evening to appreciate a mature and complex Premier Cru Burgundy. Kindly remember that older vintages may have fragile corks and sediment, so careful handling and decanting are recommended.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Bruno Clavelier is a wine producer located in the commune of Vosne-Romanée in the Côte de Nuits region of Burgundy. The winery was first established here at the end of the 18th century and now covers multiple vineyards, as well as the Corton Grand Cru a little further afield. It is the winery's only grand cru, a 14-hectare (34-acre) vineyard. 0.3 hectares (0.7 acres) of land in the east vineyard. Nonetheless, the domaine owns a series of Premier Crus in Côte de Nuits.
