🏰 The 2012 vintage in Burgundy, despite its challenges with a wet, cool spring and frost, managed to produce some fantastic wines. The Chambertin-Clos de Bèze from Duroche in 2012 is noted for its mineral-driven, tensile bouquet that gains clarity with aeration.
This wine presents outstanding focus with vibrant redcurrant and raspberry scents, taut and energetic. The palate is medium-bodied with disarming poise and precision, vibrant and edgy, showing energy on its effervescent finish. It offers sweet black cherries, violets, licorice, mint, and spices, being a relatively delicate, mid-weight Bèze. Some notes also mention dark fruits, blueberries, mixed cherries, and potpourri, with a tightly wound and structured profile. 【A mineral-driven, tensile bouquet with disarming poise and precision.】
🍴 Classic pairings include roasted duck breast, coq au vin, or mushroom risotto. For an Eastern touch, consider Peking duck, char siu (barbecued pork), or braised shiitake mushrooms.
🥂 An excellent choice for a connoisseur's tasting, a celebratory dinner, or a special occasion where a fine, aged red Burgundy is appreciated.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Duroche is a famous manor located in Gevrey-Chambertin in the Côte de Nuits region of Burgundy. The winery is owned and operated by Pierre Duroché, the fifth generation of the Duroché family, and specializes in the production of Pinot Noir red wine. The winery grows grapes in four Grand Crus, first planted in 1920 and now has a total of about 8 hectares (20 acres) of vines. Situated on soil rich in limestone and containing small amounts of sand marl. Wine is made without fining or filtration. In addition to its Grand Cru vineyards, it also owns three Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru vineyards. The winery produces five village wines from the village of Côte de Nuits, as well as two Burgundy wines, one of which is a Chardonnay-based Burgundy white.
