Chapoutier, Cotes Du Roussillon Villages Bila Haut, 2021
🏰 M. Chapoutier, a visionary and pioneer in biodynamic winemaking, brings us the 2021 Côtes du Roussillon Villages Bila-Haut, a wine that is both complex and balanced. This red blend, often featuring Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan, displays a garnet-red color with brilliant purple highlights. The nose is open, expressive, and complex, revealing aromas of very ripe black fruits like elderberry and blackberry, intertwined with spicy notes of pepper and garrigue. On the palate, it offers a great attack with tight yet silky tannins, a dominance of spicy flavors, richness, good length, and an ethereal finish. The 2021 vintage, marked by a cooler growing season, resulted in grapes that produced a tannic, fruity, and mineral-driven wine. This wine is 【a complex and balanced biodynamic expression of Roussillon terroir from a pioneering producer】.
🍴 This robust Roussillon red is an excellent partner for grilled steak, roasted meats, and a variety of Mediterranean-inspired dishes. Its spicy and fruity profile also complements hearty stews and charcuterie.
🥂 Perfect for casual dinners, barbecues with friends, or exploring the rich and flavorful wines of Southern France. It's a versatile choice for gatherings that appreciate bold and characterful reds.
BACKGROUND
Maison M. Chapoutier is one of the most recognizable producers in the Rhône Valley. It is known for its wines from both the north and south of the valley, but in particular for its red and white Hermitage wines, made from Syrah and a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne, respectively.Outside of the flagship vineyards in Hermitage, Chapoutier has vineyards across the Rhône, including plots in Côte Rôtie, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Condrieu. These span both single-vineyard expressions and generic AOC-level wines. Chapoutier also makes regional Côtes du Rhône wines, and has viticultural interests in Australia (Domaine Tournon), Portugal and Alsace.
