🏰 The 2021 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru from Thenard (or similar producers like Louis Latour or Olivier Leflaive, as specific Thenard 2021 notes are scarce) is expected to be a wine of significant character. The 2021 vintage in Burgundy was challenging but produced wines with freshness and precision. Corton Clos du Roi is known for its structured, wild, and concentrated profile, thanks to its limestone Bathonian soil rich in ferrous elements and marls. Tasting notes for this Grand Cru often describe a complex nose with aromatic strength and fine notes of spices. On the palate, it reveals flavors of bigarreau cherry, juicy and expressive, with good structure and ample material, providing relief and a beautiful presence in the mouth. It's a complete and balanced wine with a long and deep mouthfeel. 【Structured, wild, and concentrated Grand Cru】
🍴 This powerful red Burgundy is an ideal match for game, grilled meat, roasted hare, partridge, or duck "à l'orange". It also pairs wonderfully with mature cheeses. Consider pan-fried duck breast with a red wine and chocolate sauce for a truly decadent pairing.
🥂 Perfect for a formal dinner, a special occasion celebrating a significant achievement, or a gathering of serious red Burgundy connoisseurs. It has excellent aging potential, with a recommended drinking window from 2024 to 2036.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Baron Thenard Although based in Givry, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) south, Domaine Baron Thénard is the largest of the famous Le Montrachet Grand Cru One of the vine owners, the winery was founded in the mid-19th century, but the family allegedly owns vineyards that date back to the last century. Until the Count in the 2000s, Baron Ténard had close links with Burgundy négociant Remoissenet, with much of his product bottled by the house. Today, most of the winery's wines are bottled under its own label.
