FEATURES
🏰 The 1993 Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild, the esteemed second wine of Chateau Mouton Rothschild, offers a 【taste of luxury and sophistication】 from a vintage marked by a mild, sunny winter and a hot, sultry August that promised well-balanced, full-bodied wines. This red blend, formerly known as Le Second Vin, showcases a lovely, deep color with a slightly orange hue. On the nose, it presents an open, refined bouquet of blackcurrant, leather, and cold smoke aromas, complemented by delicate caramel notes. With aeration, subtle hints of cedar and blond tobacco appear. The palate is round, forward, and richly flavored, with warm notes of humus mingling with black fruit, and superb balance where the tannins become more velvety. The finish is long and compact, leaving a lingering sensation of warmth and complexity.
🍴 This elegant Bordeaux blend pairs beautifully with classic French cuisine such as red wine-braised guinea fowl, entrecote, or smoked duck breast fillet toasts. For a more robust pairing, consider venison or beef dishes.
🥂 Ideal for a sophisticated dinner party, a special occasion celebrating a milestone, or as a thoughtful gift for a Bordeaux lover. This wine is drinking well now but has the structure to continue to evolve gracefully.
BACKGROUND
Château Mouton Rothschild is located in the commune of Pauillac, in the Medoc, 30 miles (50km) northwest of the city of Bordeaux. The estate comprises 90 hectares (222 acres) of vineyards, mainly on gravel-based soils, and is situated in the northern part of the commune just south of Château Lafite Rothschild. Most of the vineyard is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, with 15 percent planted to Merlot and a small amount of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The vineyard, typically for top Medoc estates, is densely planted and the average vine age is more than 40 years old. Harvest is done by hand, and the juice is fermented in oak vats in a gravity-fed vat room opened in 2012. After fermentation, the wine sees 22 months in new oak before bottling.
