🏰The 2016 Auguste Clape Cornas is a 【benchmark Northern Rhone Syrah, lauded for its massive concentration and incredible balance】. Critics praise its deep, smoky notes, tarry edge, and assertive dark plums and black fruit pastilles. Expect crazy notes of incense, beef blood, plums, ground pepper, and blueberries, with building tannins and a tight, chiseled mouthfeel. This full-bodied, rich, and tannic wine is harmonious enough to drink now but will age gracefully for a couple of decades, with a best drinking window from 2022 through 2045.
🍴 This powerful Cornas demands equally robust food. Ideal pairings include grilled or braised beef, lamb, game meats like venison, or rich stews. For an Asian-inspired meal, consider a slow-cooked five-spice beef short rib or a rich duck preparation.
🥂 An excellent choice for a sophisticated dinner party, a special occasion celebrating a milestone, or a serious wine collector's tasting event. Decanting is recommended to allow its complex aromas to unfold.
