Amiot Servelle, Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru, 2018
🏰 The 2018 vintage in Burgundy was generally warm and generous, producing ripe, opulent wines with good concentration. Amiot Servelle's Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru from this vintage is expected to reflect these characteristics, offering a rich and expressive profile. Charmes Chambertin is known for producing elegant and aromatic Pinot Noir, often described as charming and seductive, with a silky texture. Expect notes of ripe red and black fruits, such as cherry, raspberry, and blackcurrant, complemented by floral hints of violet and rose, and subtle earthy or spicy undertones from oak aging. The 2018 vintage's warmth likely contributes to a fuller body and softer tannins, making it approachable in its youth but also capable of graceful aging. 【 Opulent and expressive Grand Cru from a warm vintage 】
🍴 This elegant red Burgundy pairs beautifully with classic French cuisine, particularly roasted poultry like duck or guinea fowl, game birds, and delicate red meats such as veal or lamb. Mushroom-based dishes, especially those with truffles, would also be an excellent match. For an Eastern pairing, consider a refined Cantonese roasted pigeon or a delicate braised mushroom dish.
🥂 Ideal for a celebratory dinner, a special occasion with discerning guests, or as a thoughtful gift for a Burgundy enthusiast. It's a wine that can be enjoyed in its youth for its fruit-forward charm or cellared for several years to develop greater complexity and tertiary aromas.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Amiot Servelle is a leading wine producer based in the village of Chambolle-Musigny in Burgundy's Côte d'Or district, with seven hectares (17 acres) of Pinot Noir vines. This includes vines from six premier vineyards. The company produces a range of wines from the region's top vineyards, including wines from the renowned Les Amoureuses vineyard, dominated by Pinot Noir. The history of the winery can be traced back to the 1920s. The owner's grandfather began planting grape vines in the village, and his parents also founded a winery. The owner himself founded Domaine Amiot-Servelle in 1989.
