🏰 The 2012 Burgundy vintage was challenging, marked by frost, disease, and hail, particularly in the Côte de Beaune, which includes Meursault. Despite these difficulties, a small but ripe and concentrated crop was harvested, and top estates managed to produce good wines. Anne Boisson's Meursault Sous La Velle 2012 is a white Chardonnay that, despite some vintage inconsistencies, offers a wonderful, quintessential Meursault nose with full butter notes. It presents a fairly deep yellow and developed appearance. Some tasters note a signature Boisson acidity with lemon curd, flint, apple, ripe fruit, and caramelized pineapple, describing it as lean and mineral. Others find it rich and elegant, with aromas of orchard blossoms, lemon zest, and crushed stone, and a palate featuring splendid weight, pristine texture, lemon, orange citrus notes, minerals, and hints of apricot. 【A rich and elegant Meursault from a challenging yet rewarding vintage, offering complexity and a classic profile.】
🍴 This complex white Meursault pairs beautifully with lobster bisque with bay shrimp, pan-fried crab cakes, and roasted chicken. It also complements prawn cocktail avocado, grilled sea bass, veal stew in a cream sauce, and Beaufort cheese. Other suggestions include shellfish, pasta, cured meat, cured white fish, trout, salmon, white meat with mushroom cream sauce, soft to semi-hard cheeses like brie or gruyere, and even teriyaki chicken meatballs.
🥂 This wine is drinking well now, with some reviews suggesting enjoyment through 2022 (as of 2018). It's a rich and elegant Meursault, ideal for special occasions and sophisticated cuisine. Serve at 12-14°C to best appreciate its developed profile and complexity.
