Meo Camuzet, Echezeaux Les Rouges Du Bas Grand Cru, 2001
🏰 The 2001 vintage in Burgundy was generally considered good, producing wines with good balance and aging potential, though perhaps not reaching the heights of truly exceptional years. Méo-Camuzet is a highly respected producer in Burgundy, known for its meticulous vineyard management and traditional winemaking, particularly for its Grand Cru holdings. Echézeaux 'Les Rouges du Bas' is a specific parcel within the Echézeaux Grand Cru appellation, known for producing elegant and complex Pinot Noir wines. These wines are celebrated for their aromatic complexity, fine tannins, and ability to evolve beautifully with age. 【 A prestigious Grand Cru from a revered Burgundy domaine 】
🍴 This elegant red Burgundy, with its potential for evolving tertiary aromas of forest floor, truffle, and spice alongside red fruit, would pair exquisitely with classic French cuisine. Think roasted duck breast with cherry sauce, coq au vin, mushroom risotto, or delicate game birds like pheasant. It would also complement aged Comté or Époisses cheese.
🥂 An exceptional choice for a formal dinner, a significant anniversary, or a special occasion where a truly fine and mature Burgundy Grand Cru is desired. It's a wine to be savored and appreciated for its depth and complexity.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Meo-Camuzet is located in the village of Vosne-Romanee, France. The estate employs organic fertilizers and advanced cultivation techniques to maintain ecological balance in the vineyards. Coupled with the exceptional terroir and the legacy of Henri Jayer, Jean-Nicholas' efforts have elevated the estate to a top-tier winery in just a few decades. In 2003, Jean-Nicholas founded the négociant business Méo-Camuzet Frères et Soeurs. Although the grapes are purchased, the team personally supervises the vineyards to ensure the quality of the grape sources.
