🏰From the esteemed Corton Grand Cru, the only red Côte de Beaune Grand Cru, this 2018 Michel Mallard Les Maréchaudes is a 【powerful and precise expression of Pinot Noir, showcasing a deep profile of black cherry and blackberry, underpinned by fine florals, gentle spice, and a commanding mineral backbone】. The 2018 vintage, a generous and warm year, saw Michel Mallard craft wines with a firm yet attractive grip, precisely what the vintage required. Sourced from 70-75 year old vines on limestone-clay soils rich in marl on the eastern side of the Corton hill, this wine offers an exceptional terroir. While dense and tannic in its youth, it promises to develop marvelous aromas of red fruit, spices, liquorice, and game after 6-7 years of aging. The palate is fresh, concentrated, and beautifully balanced, leading to a long, pure, and commanding finish.
🍴 This Grand Cru Pinot Noir is an ideal match for hearty dishes such as duck breast, boeuf bourguignon, venison, or roasted game hen. It also pairs wonderfully with veal stew or a rich mushroom risotto.
🥂 This is a wine for formal dinners, special celebrations, or game dinners. Given its structure and aging potential, it's best to cellar this wine for several years to allow its full complexity to unfold. If enjoying now, a significant decanting period is highly recommended.
