【Griotte-Chambertin, the smallest of Gevrey-Chambertin's Grand Crus, offers a powerful yet elegant Pinot Noir, even in the challenging 2021 vintage.】 The 2021 Burgundy vintage was notably challenging due to spring frosts and cool, damp summer conditions, resulting in dramatically reduced yields. Despite these difficulties, dedicated winemakers crafted beautiful wines with good potential, characterized by elegance and finesse. It is considered a lighter vintage in terms of color, tannin, body, and acidity, distinguished by its perfume and texture, with enticing floral aromas and red-cherry, soft summer fruit notes. Expect a vivid coloration ranging from deep ruby to black-cherry. Aromas suggest red and black fruits (cherry, blackcurrant, redcurrant), complemented by delicate notes of fine leather, nutmeg, and licorice, with mineral nuances and toasted almond emerging with aeration. On the palate, it charms with abundant, present tannins that are silky and elegant, balanced by lovely freshness. The wine expresses power, opulence, and elegance, with an aromatic and energetic profile of sour cherries and licorice.

This Grand Cru pairs beautifully with red meats in sauce, roasted or sauced feathered game, and herb-braised lamb. Also excellent with mushroom- and truffle-based dishes, and washed-rind cheeses. For Asian cuisine, consider Peking duck, char siu, beef rendang, miso-glazed fish or aubergine, umami mushroom stir-fries, and aged tofu dishes.
