🏰 【From the highly regarded Ghislaine Barthod, this Chambolle Musigny Les Baudes 1er Cru 2017 is an elegant and perfumed red Burgundy, showcasing the finesse of this premier cru from a charming vintage.】 The 2017 red Burgundy vintage is characterized by magnificent balance, sweet, crystalline red fruit flavors, and a soft, silky tannic mouthfeel. Wines from this year are often described as open, accessible, red-fruited, and floral, with good acidity and a vibrant character, making them wonderfully expressive of their terroir.
🍴 This refined red 布根地 pairs exquisitely with roasted duck breast, pan-seared game birds, delicate red meats like veal or pork tenderloin, and mushroom-based dishes. It also complements a selection of mild to medium-aged cheeses. For an Eastern pairing, consider a delicate Cantonese roast pigeon or a savory mushroom and chicken stir-fry.
🥂 An ideal wine for a special dinner, a Burgundy-focused tasting, or as a prized addition to any discerning cellar.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Ghislaine Barthod is one of the most prominent producers in the Chambolle-Musigny appellation of Burgundy, known for its intense, ageworthy wines from the Pinot Noir grape variety. The estate was founded by Marcel Noëllat in the early 20th century. Marcel's daughter married Gaston Barthod, an officer in the French army stationed in Dijon. They developed the domaine together over the decades. After Gaston's death in 1999, their daughter Ghislaine took over, having managed the estate for the previous decade. Ghislaine and her partner Louis Boillot combine vineyard work across their respective domaines, but the estates are run separately and the wines are produced in their respective wineries.
