🏰 The 2019 Coquard Loison Fleurot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru is from a 【hidden-gem Burgundian estate with a stellar collection of Grand Cru holdings】, whose wines are increasingly recognized as a rising star. Under winemaker Thomas Colladot, the estate focuses on light extraction and delicate new oak use, resulting in elegant wines that express fruit purity. The 2019 vintage, a Pinot Noir from Morey-Saint-Denis, features a delineated bouquet with seamlessly integrated whole bunch fermentation. Expect aromas of blackberry, briar, dark chocolate, various dark berries, earth, dried flowers, and a hint of oak. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, excellent focus, and a strict, linear finish, offering rich, plush flavors, subtle minerality, and a fine salty aftertaste.
🍴 This exquisite Grand Cru Pinot Noir is a perfect match for classic Burgundy pairings. Consider roasted duck, goose, or other game birds. It would also complement mushroom-based dishes, truffle pasta, or a fine coq au vin.
🥂 This wine is built for the long haul, requiring cellaring for several years to fully develop, with a suggested drinking window from 2025-2045 or starting 2036. It's a serious Grand Cru for collectors and special occasions, promising immense potential and a rewarding experience with age.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Coquard Loison Fleurot is a wine estate located in Burgundy that produces wine entirely from Pinot Noir. Until recently, these wines were rarely exported, but current commercial director Claire Fleurot and winemaker Thomas Colladot have changed that. Under their guidance, the winery’s reputation has grown significantly. The total vineyard area is approximately 9 hectares (22 acres) spread over 6 different Grand Cru vineyards.
