🏰 Coquard Loison Fleurot's Echezeaux Grand Cru 2022 is a "lively and energetic" expression from this esteemed 布根地 appellation. This Grand Cru Pinot Noir displays a classic deep ruby color, with an exuberantly spicy and ultra-nose showcasing the essence of red cherry and cool floral scents. The palate offers fine volume and punch to beautifully textured, medium-bodied flavors, with a fine length on a youthfully austere finish supported by fine-grained tannins. Critics note its elegance, with wavelets of alpine strawberry and raspberry dancing across the palate, super fine, and with startling elegance. While it could use better depth, this is expected to develop with appropriate cellaring.
🍴 This youthful yet promising 布根地 Grand Cru will pair wonderfully with classic French dishes. Consider roasted duck with a rich sauce, pan-seared game, or a hearty coq au vin. Earthy mushroom dishes, such as a wild mushroom gratin, would also complement its evolving complexity. For a more substantial pairing, a beef bourguignon would be an excellent choice.
🥂 This Echezeaux Grand Cru is a wine for the patient connoisseur, destined for long-term cellaring. It's an excellent choice for a significant birthday or anniversary in the future, or for a serious tasting to observe its evolution. While enjoyable now for its youthful charm, it is recommended to drink from 2030-2038 to experience its full potential. Serve at a cool cellar temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F), to allow its intricate layers to unfold.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Coquard Loison Fleurot is a wine estate located in Burgundy that produces wine entirely from Pinot Noir. Until recently, these wines were rarely exported, but current commercial director Claire Fleurot and winemaker Thomas Colladot have changed that. Under their guidance, the winery’s reputation has grown significantly. The total vineyard area is approximately 9 hectares (22 acres) spread over 6 different Grand Cru vineyards.
