FEATURES
🏰 The 2004 Rene Engel Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru is a 【Burgundy gem radiating finesse, a vintage matured with poise, offering nuanced aromas and a structure that commands attention】. Despite the challenging 2004 vintage, known for a cool summer and rainy harvest, Domaine Rene Engel's meticulous craftsmanship yielded a wine of intricate layering. It reveals a core of red cherries and blackberries mingling with whispers of damp earth and truffle, supported by fine tannins and an extraordinarily persistent finish. Expect an airy, cool, and complex nose with notes of spice and earth, evolving into a fully mature profile with hints of stemmy character, red fruits, floral notes, coffee, chestnuts, and a transparent, weightless elegance. 🍴 This elegant Grand Cru Pinot Noir is an excellent pairing for duck, goose, and various game birds. 🥂 This 2004 vintage has just reached the front edge of its peak drinkability, making it delightful to enjoy now, or it can be held for a few more years to further develop. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F). Given its age, gentle opening and decanting are recommended to allow it to breathe and separate from any potential sediment. Always check the cork condition carefully.
BACKGROUND
Domaine René Engel was a Burgundy producer known for making some of the top examples of Pinot Noir in Vosne-Romanée, France. The domaine remained in the Engel family for three generations until the death of Philippe Engel in 2005. The domaine's vineyard holdings spanned a total of around six hectares. In 2006, René Engel's vineyard holdings were purchased by François Pinault, owner of the renowned Château Latour, and Domaine d'Eugenie was formed.
