Anne Gros, Clos Vougeot Le Grand Maupertui Grand Cru, 2003
🏰 The 2003 Anne Gros Clos Vougeot Le Grand Maupertui Grand Cru is a 【magnificent Grand Cru Burgundy from the esteemed Anne Gros, showcasing her elegant touch even in the exceptionally hot 2003 vintage】. While 2003 was a challenging year for Burgundy, known for its ripe and powerful wines, Anne Gros's meticulous winemaking shines through. This Pinot Noir offers a rich and concentrated profile, with ripe dark fruit notes of black cherry and plum, complemented by hints of kirsch, spice, and an evolving complexity of forest floor and subtle game from its age. The tannins are substantial yet refined, contributing to a full-bodied and long-lasting finish.
🍴 This powerful red Burgundy is an ideal partner for roasted game birds like duck or pheasant, a classic beef bourguignon, or a rich mushroom risotto. It also pairs beautifully with aged Epoisses cheese.
🥂 Perfect for a celebratory dinner, a special occasion for Burgundy aficionados, or a vertical tasting to explore the evolution of Anne Gros's exceptional wines.
This 2003 Burgundy is now well into its drinking window. A gentle decant for 30-60 minutes might be beneficial to allow it to breathe and shed any light sediment, but be mindful not to over-aerate. Serve at cellar temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F). Check the cork carefully before opening.
