🏰 The 2011 Krug Vintage Champagne Brut is an exceptional expression of a single harvest, known for its richer, more intense, and specific character compared to the Grande Cuvée. Krug champions their Brut vintage Champagne as the ideal companion to most dishes, offering a dry, elegant, and complex profile that can stand up to substantial food. Expect a Champagne with remarkable depth and concentration, showcasing the unique personality of the 2011 vintage.
🍴 Krug Vintage Brut is incredibly food-friendly, especially with red meat and robust preparations. It pairs beautifully with roast lamb, duck breast, beef Wellington, or even rich, creamy, aromatic, and citrus-infused foods. For a cheese course, aged Comté is a natural choice, and it also complements foie gras and truffle risotto. Smoked salmon, tuna, and caviar are also classic pairings.
🥂 Ideal for a grand celebration, a gourmet dinner, or any occasion where a truly magnificent and versatile Champagne is desired. Its ability to pair with a wide array of dishes makes it a perfect choice for a multi-course meal or a luxurious tasting experience.
BACKGROUND
Krug is one of Champagne's most prestigious houses and its wines are among the most collectible and expensive in Champagne. The house was founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a native of the Mosel region in Germany, who had moved to France and spent some time working for Jacquesson, the leading Champagne house of the time. Krug's philosophy was that every Champagne should be the best possible expression, and eschewed the common idea of a hierarchy of Champagne. Instead, he began to craft a premium wine from a reserve of wines vinified separately by the growers themselves, a wine that would eventually become the Grande Cuvée.
