🏰 The 2012 Domaine Jacques Prieur Musigny Grand Cru is considered 【one of the most elusive wines in Burgundy】, coming from a small 0.77-hectare parcel in the southern section of the grand cru. The 2012 vintage was challenging, with nature's whims leading to historically low yields, yet the remaining grapes ripened fully, resulting in harmonious and savory wines. This Musigny boasts the most sophisticated and complex bouquet of the domaine's reds in 2012, adorned with blackberry, raspberry leaf, creme de cassis, minerals, and incense. The palate is medium-bodied with fine delineation and a firm backbone, lending a sense of masculinity and sternness. It offers an ethereal expression with intense aromas of wild strawberry, crushed rose petals, and woodland undergrowth, evolving into subtle toasted notes with aeration. This is a wine that demands cellaring for a number of years, with everything in place for extended aging.
🍴 This elegant, well-structured wine pairs beautifully with not-too-spicy sauces on filet mignon, rich pork, or game birds. With a few years of cellaring, it opens up alongside more flavorful dishes such as roast duck with cabbage, game birds, or sweetbreads.
🥂 An exceptional choice for a significant milestone celebration or a serious collector's tasting, this Musigny Grand Cru embodies the rich heritage and exceptional terroir of Burgundy.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jacques Prieur is a relatively large Burgundy producer that makes both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from esteemed vineyard holdings across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, France. The history of the domaine began in the 1860s, with the marriage of Claude Duvergey and Marie Taboureau. They first established the wine and spirits merchant business, Duvergey-Taboureau House, before buying property in Meursault – now the site of the modern Domaine Jacques Priuer.
