🏰 From the legendary Northern Rhone producer Jean-Louis Chave, whose family has been crafting wine since 1481, the 1996 Hermitage Blanc is described as 【sensational and powerful】. This Marsanne-Roussanne blend showcases remarkable longevity and complexity.
📝 Expect a nutty, mature nose with apricot pit and amaro, offering a rich and dense texture balanced by ample acidity. Other notes reveal honeysuckle, floral, petrol, nutty, and almost over-oxidized nuances, with flint and pear, leading to a fresh and balanced palate. It delivers notes of grilled nuts, sherry fino-like scents, thick, juicy, honeyed citrus, peach, and roses.
🍴 Ideal with roasted chicken or turkey. Its complexity also makes it a superb match for richer poultry dishes, creamy sauces, or aged hard cheeses.
🥂 A perfect choice for a special anniversary, a gathering of serious wine collectors, or a contemplative evening appreciating a beautifully aged white wine.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jean-Louis Chave is a powerful wine producer headquartered in the village of Mauves in the Saint-Joseph region, across the Rhone River from Hermitage. It owns about 14.5 hectares (36 acres) of land and grapes. The terraced estate now covers eight different plots on the hill, providing a range of mesoclimates and terroirs for Chave wines. Many of the vines are between 30 and 60 years old.
