Anne Gros, Clos Vougeot Le Grand Maupertui Grand Cru, 2019
🏰The 2019 Anne Gros Clos Vougeot Le Grand Maupertui Grand Cru is a 【powerful and age-worthy Grand Cru Burgundy, benefiting from old vines planted in 1904】 that yield fruit of great concentration. This vintage showcases delicate red and darker Pinot fruit, spiced with peony. It pours a rich purple, deeply sensual, with a slightly oaky bouquet. The nose offers blackberry and dark chocolate, evolving into a depth of red and black fruit, scented with liquorice, anise, and a complex array of mineral and savoury notes. On the palate, expect cherry cola, dark fruit, and chocolate, with a dense and supple texture balanced by lovely freshness and tannic grip. It delivers good richness and vibrancy to its bigger-bodied, muscular flavors, culminating in a youthfully austere, complex, and structured finale with outstanding length.
🍴 This magnificent red Burgundy is an ideal partner for sophisticated dishes such as roasted venison, truffle-infused risotto, coq au vin, or a classic beef Wellington. It also pairs well with game, poultry, veal, and a selection of mature cheeses.
🥂 An 【excellent addition to a serious collector's cellar or a grand occasion】 where a powerful, complex, and age-worthy Grand Cru Burgundy will be truly appreciated.
