🏰 The 2020 Burgundy vintage for reds was generally considered very good, producing wines with ripeness, concentration, and often a more approachable style in their youth. Bruno Clavelier's Corton Le Rognet Grand Cru 2020 is a highly regarded wine, with critics noting a cool, airy, and pure nose offering aromas of wild red berries, earth, and a hint of the sauvage. The palate is described as having excellent volume and mid-palate concentration, with powerful, youthfully austere, and firmly structured flavors, suggesting it will benefit from patience. The producer's tasting notes mention a velvety substance with vineyard peach, jammy fruit, figs, smoky notes, and a fine minerality. 【 Impressive power and structure 】
🥂 This Grand Cru is an excellent choice for a significant celebration, a serious wine tasting, or for collectors looking to add a powerful and age-worthy Burgundy to their cellar. It will reward patience and develop further complexity over time.
🍴 This powerful Corton Le Rognet Grand Cru demands equally robust food pairings. Consider roasted game birds, venison, beef bourguignon, or strong, mature cheeses like Epoisses or Comté.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Bruno Clavelier is a wine producer located in the commune of Vosne-Romanée in the Côte de Nuits region of Burgundy. The winery was first established here at the end of the 18th century and now covers multiple vineyards, as well as the Corton Grand Cru a little further afield. It is the winery's only grand cru, a 14-hectare (34-acre) vineyard. 0.3 hectares (0.7 acres) of land in the east vineyard. Nonetheless, the domaine owns a series of Premier Crus in Côte de Nuits.
