Henri Rebourseau, Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru, 2000
🏰【A distinguished Grand Cru from Henri Rebourseau, the 2000 Mazis Chambertin offers a classic expression of this powerful Gevrey-Chambertin terroir, now beautifully mature.】 The 2000 vintage in Burgundy was generally very good, producing charming and approachable wines with good fruit and balance, many of which are drinking beautifully now. Henri Rebourseau's Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru is known for its robust structure and aromatic complexity. Expect a wine with evolved notes of dried red and black fruits, forest floor, leather, and exotic spices, with a hint of earthy minerality. On the palate, it will be medium to full-bodied with softened, integrated tannins, a harmonious acidity, and a long, nuanced finish. This wine is in a lovely drinking window, showcasing the elegance and depth that comes with age.
🍴 This savory and classic red Pinot Noir pairs wonderfully with roasted game birds, duck confit, mushroom and truffle dishes, or mature hard cheeses like Comté or aged Gouda. Consider traditional Burgundian cuisine to complement its character.
🥂 Ideal for a special occasion, a contemplative tasting, or a refined dinner with friends who appreciate mature Grand Cru Burgundy. It's a wine that offers a glimpse into the beauty of aged Pinot Noir.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Henri Rebourseau is a well-regarded wine producer based in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin in the northern Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy's Côte d'Or heartland. The domaine produces principally red wines from the Pinot Noir variety. The estate began in the mid-19th century when Jean-Baptiste Rebourseau and his wife Louise-Victoire Philippon consolidated vineyard holdings. It was passed to his sons Émile and Henri, and in 1949 to Henri's son Pierre Rebourseau. In 1980, Pierre's grandson Jean de Surrel took over, shifting to organic and biodynamic viticulture. In 2018, Olivier and Martin Bouygues acquired a controlling share. Bénigne and Louis now manage the estate with Hervé Berland.
