🏰 The 2003 vintage in the Rhône Valley was characterized by scorching heat, which led to rich, structured, and opulent wines. Chapoutier's Ermitage L'Ermite Blanc, made from Marsanne grapes grown on poor granitic soils, is known for its incredible aging potential, often lasting 30 to 75 years. The 2003 expression would likely be a powerful white, showcasing complex aromas of vanilla, almonds, dried fruits, and linden-tree, with a very round and rich palate, and an elegant balance. 【 Exceptional Longevity and Complexity 】
🥂 This profound white Hermitage is perfect for a grand gastronomic experience, a special anniversary, or a vertical tasting to appreciate its evolution. Its richness and complexity make it a standout.
🍴 This full-bodied white wine pairs beautifully with rich fish like salmon or tuna, poultry in sauces, white meats, and mature hard cheeses. It can also complement spicy dishes and curry, or even lobster and crab.
BACKGROUND
Maison M. Chapoutier is one of the most recognizable producers in the Rhône Valley. It is known for its wines from both the north and south of the valley, but in particular for its red and white Hermitage wines, made from Syrah and a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne, respectively.Outside of the flagship vineyards in Hermitage, Chapoutier has vineyards across the Rhône, including plots in Côte Rôtie, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Condrieu. These span both single-vineyard expressions and generic AOC-level wines. Chapoutier also makes regional Côtes du Rhône wines, and has viticultural interests in Australia (Domaine Tournon), Portugal and Alsace.
