Geantet Pansiot, Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru, 1992
🏰Geantet-Pansiot's Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 1992 is a 【rare and mature offering from a highly respected Burgundy estate】, known for its rich and expressive wines. The 1992 Burgundy vintage was challenging but produced some surprisingly charming and elegant wines, particularly from conscientious producers. At 32 years old, this Grand Cru is expected to be fully developed, offering a complex tapestry of dried leaves, game, truffle, and sweet spice, with a delicate texture and a long, nuanced finish.
🍴 This venerable red Burgundy is an exquisite match for roasted pheasant, slow-cooked beef with mushrooms, or aged Comté cheese. For an Asian pairing, consider a refined Cantonese braised pigeon or a delicate mushroom and truffle hotpot.
🥂 A truly exceptional wine for a milestone anniversary, a serious collector's tasting, or a profound gift for a Burgundy enthusiast. Given its age, handle with care; the cork may be fragile, and a gentle decanting for an hour or two before serving will allow it to breathe and reveal its full complexity, while also separating any sediment.
BACKGROUND
Geantet-Pansiot is a wine producer located in the Côte de Nuits region of Burgundy. It is famous for its Pinot Noir wines from Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny, and also produces a variety of Burgundy AOC wines. The estate was founded in 1954 when newlyweds Edmond Geantet and Bernadette Pansiot purchased a three-hectare (seven-acre) vineyard on the edge of Gevrey-Chambertin. Today, the vineyards total 13 hectares (32 acres), mainly through agricultural contracts.
