Bouchard P&f, Chambertin Clos De Beze Grand Cru, 1970
🏰 The 1970 Bouchard P&F Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru is a 【rare glimpse into a bygone era of Burgundy】, from a vintage that was reasonably good and abundant, producing pleasant, plush, fruit-forward wines. While many 1970 Burgundies were soft and fruity, best drunk earlier due to a lack of tannin, the very best reds from top appellations like Chambertin Clos de Bèze may still be drinking well, albeit on their downhill slide. Expect a wine that has evolved significantly, showcasing tertiary aromas of forest floor, dried leaves, leather, and perhaps a hint of truffle, with any remaining red fruit notes being delicate and ethereal.
🍴 This mature Grand Cru would pair best with delicate game birds, mushroom-based dishes, or aged, firm cheeses like Comté. Avoid overly rich or intensely flavored foods that could overpower its subtle complexities.
🥂 A truly special bottle for a milestone anniversary, a reflective tasting with fellow connoisseurs, or a moment to appreciate the history of Burgundy. As a wine from 1970, expect an old wine style with evolved aromas. Remember to check the cork and capsule carefully before opening.
