🏰The 1992 Jean Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc, though from a lighter vintage, is a testament to the Chave family's 【masterful blending and tradition】 on the Hermitage hill since 1481. This mature white Hermitage reveals a light, gold, and bright color, offering floral, honeyed, buttered nuts, and mineral aromas. The palate is refined and dry, with average acidity, showcasing flavors of apricot, waxy notes, and nuttiness, culminating in a sophisticated and fine finish.
🍴 This elegant white wine pairs beautifully with poultry, creamy soups, chicken, and turkey. It also shines alongside duck entree, frogs legs, snails in garlic, pike boudin, and ris de veau.
🥂 A sophisticated choice for a refined dinner or for those who appreciate the complex evolution of older white wines.
For a wine of this age, expect a more evolved, complex profile. The cork and capsule might be fragile, so open with care, perhaps using an Ah-So opener. Decanting for about 2 hours is recommended to allow it to fully express its mature character. Serve at a cool cellar temperature to preserve its freshness.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jean-Louis Chave is a powerful wine producer headquartered in the village of Mauves in the Saint-Joseph region, across the Rhone River from Hermitage. It owns about 14.5 hectares (36 acres) of land and grapes. The terraced estate now covers eight different plots on the hill, providing a range of mesoclimates and terroirs for Chave wines. Many of the vines are between 30 and 60 years old.
