🏰【Jean-Louis Chave's 2004 Hermitage Blanc is an exceptional white Rhone, often surpassing their acclaimed red in this distinguished vintage, showcasing remarkable finesse, elegance, and a complex tapestry of fruit and minerality with significant aging potential.】 The 2004 vintage was a distinguished year for Hermitage Blanc, where favorable conditions allowed for perfect ripeness while retaining crucial acidity, resulting in impeccably balanced wines. It reveals a light gold color with pervasive honeysuckle, peach liqueur, and nectarine notes, intermixed with licorice, quince, and acacia flowers. The palate unfolds with layers of apricots, crisp pear, toasted almonds, marzipan, and subtle spices, all underpinned by tremendous focus and minerality. Some may find rich, ripe, or slightly oxidative notes, while others highlight its elegance and freshness.
🍴 Superb with roasted chicken or turkey, richer seafood, foie gras, or creamy poultry dishes.
🥂 Ideal for a sophisticated dinner, a special occasion, or as a prized addition to a collector's cellar, capable of evolving for decades.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jean-Louis Chave is a powerful wine producer headquartered in the village of Mauves in the Saint-Joseph region, across the Rhone River from Hermitage. It owns about 14.5 hectares (36 acres) of land and grapes. The terraced estate now covers eight different plots on the hill, providing a range of mesoclimates and terroirs for Chave wines. Many of the vines are between 30 and 60 years old.
