FEATURES
🏰 The 2021 Hermitage La Chapelle, now labeled as Domaine de la Chapelle from this vintage onwards, is a refined and elegant Syrah from a cool, late-ripening year in the Northern Rhône. The vintage saw frost in April, which significantly reduced yields, leading to fresher flavors, more restrained alcohol, and a transparent style of Syrah. This wine offers a classic vintage profile with notes of violets, black pepper, and dark cherry, avoiding the jammy depth of warmer years. It is poised and aromatically expressive, revealing bold black raspberry and brambly red berry details, along with white pepper and floral high tones. Initially shy, it opens up in the glass to reveal toasted aniseed, cigar box, and rosemary. The palate is medium-bodied, nicely balanced, and showcases incredible depth and complexity with masses of forest berry, licorice, and autumn trumpet mushroom aromas, embodying the classic power of Hermitage. 【A refined, elegant, and aromatically expressive Hermitage Syrah from a cool, classic vintage.】
🍴 Syrah from the Northern Rhône is a superb partner for game and char. Think venison tenderloin with pepper jus, braised wild boar, or Provençal-style pigeon. It also pairs beautifully with aged Comté or Beaufort cheese, Asian dishes, beef, Beef Wellington, braised and grilled dishes, Braised Short Ribs, Cassoulet, duck, and grilled eggplant.
🥂 This Hermitage La Chapelle is built for the long haul and will stand the test of time in the cellar. It's recommended to drink it between 2028 and 2045, with some suggesting a waiting period of 20 years for optimal enjoyment. While drinkable now, it will greatly benefit from further bottle age to fully unfurl its aromas and complexity.
