FEATURES
🏰 Comando G's Rumbo al Norte 2010 marks the maiden vintage for this exceptional cuvée, originating from a cooler year in the Gredos mountain range of Spain. Comando G, or 'Garnacha Command', is a collaboration dedicated to producing world-class Garnacha wines. 'Rumbo al Norte' (heading north) refers to a unique, cool north-facing plot of 0.3 hectares in La Breña, where 70-year-old Garnacha vines thrive in shallow decomposed granite and sandstone soils. These marginal conditions result in grapes with high acidity, yielding fresh, vibrant, and mineral-laden wines with moderate alcohol levels. Only around 1,000 bottles are produced each vintage, highlighting its rarity. The 2010 is described as an incredible wine, medium-bodied with medium-high acidity and perfectly balanced tannins. It offers incredibly intense red fruit, leaning towards raspberry and cherry, with pronounced minerality. Tasting notes also include autumnal leaves, nutmeg, lychee, neroli orange peel, black tea, smoke, dried herbs, pine woods, rosewood, and crushed rocks. Critics praise its elegant style, calling it a 'stony Garnacha extremist' that is austere yet interwoven. 【A rare, single-vineyard Garnacha from 70-year-old vines in a unique, high-altitude, north-facing granite plot, producing fresh, vibrant, mineral-laden wines.】
🍴 This vibrant and mineral-driven Garnacha pairs excellently with lamb, roasted pork, grilled vegetables, or a selection of fine charcuterie. Its intense red fruit and spicy notes would also complement dishes with a touch of smokiness.
🥂 This unique and highly sought-after wine is perfect for a special dinner with discerning palates, a vertical tasting to appreciate its evolution, or as a thoughtful gift for a collector of rare Spanish wines. It drinks amazingly now but also has the potential to improve further with age.
