Drouhin Laroze, Chambertin Clos De Beze Grand Cru, 2003
🏰 A unique and powerful Grand Cru from the extreme 2003 vintage, this Chambertin Clos de Beze from Drouhin Laroze offers intense concentration and remarkable longevity. The 2003 Burgundy vintage was marked by scorching heatwaves across Europe, yielding grapes with intense concentration and unforeseen maturity. [31, 44] Expect a burly, powerful, and rich wine with boisterous black fruits, roasting spices, cassis, and black cherries. The palate fuses ripe, almost exuberant berry fruits with spiced chocolate notes, supported by muscular yet opulent tannins, suggesting eminent longevity. [18, 31, 50]
🍴 This profound red Burgundy pairs exquisitely with roasted venison, beef Wellington, truffle-infused dishes, or strong aged cheeses.
🥂 Ideal for a serious collector's tasting, a grand celebration, or a special gift for a Burgundy aficionado.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Drouhin-Laroze is a wine producer based in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin. The estate mainly produces red wine from Burgundy's flagship grape variety, Pinot Noir. Representing a range of quality levels, from Grand Cru to "Country". Originating from the Gevrey vineyard acquired by viticulturist Jean-Baptiste Laroze in 1850, the domaine has been passed down through generations of the Laroze family and continued to expand with the marriage of Suzanne Laroze to Alexandre Drouhin in 1919. With 11.5 hectares (28.5 acres) of vineyards spread throughout Burgundy, it is run by the fifth and sixth generations of the family.
