FEATURES
🏰The 1996 Hugel Pinot Gris Jubilee is a classic, ripe, and sound vintage from Alsace, known for its very good acidity levels. This wine is Hugel's interpretation of the best Pinot terroir of Riquewihr, the Pflostig, and is designed for profound complexity and longevity, capable of improving for years and keeping for decades. The Jubilee range represents a higher tier in Hugel's portfolio, often made from a selection of the finest plots.
This Pinot Gris displays a bright, quite intense straw yellow color. The bouquet is grapey with very ripe fruit notes of 【banana, pineapple, guava, butter, and reseda, evolving into aromas of nuts and flowers】. On the palate, it is elegantly well-structured, soft yet not flabby, with sufficient acidity for finesse, offering a full-bodied and generous profile of apricots, peaches, and subtle citrus flowers, leading to a very nice long finish.
🍴 Ideal with sea or freshwater fish in sauce (even spiced), lobster, crayfish, smoked fish, white meat, and dishes with mushrooms. Its richness also makes it suitable for fruit tarts, mirabelle, date, fig, or frangipane.
🥂 An excellent choice for a celebratory meal, a sophisticated gathering, or as a contemplative wine to enjoy on its own, especially given its aging potential.
Serve at 10°C (50°F). While enjoyable now, it has the potential to improve in bottle for another 3 to 5 years, or even longer.
