🏰 The 2017 Chateau La Gaffeliere is a highly acclaimed Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé, particularly impressive given the challenging 2017 vintage which saw frost affect lower-lying sections of the vineyard. This vintage is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, primarily sourced from the Saint-Émilion plateau. It presents a medium to deep garnet-purple color. The nose, initially a little closed, unfurls to reveal fragrant scents of kirsch, black raspberries, warm plums, unsmoked cigars, rosehip tea, and underbrush. On the palate, it offers fantastic elegance and sophistication with bright, perfumed fruit, exquisitely ripe tannins, and a finish brimming with freshness and energy. 【 A highlight of a challenging vintage, praised for its elegance and aromatic intensity 】.
🍴 This refined Saint-Émilion is an excellent match for classic red meat dishes such as roasted lamb, beef Wellington, or venison. It also pairs well with aged hard cheeses.
🥂 Perfect for a celebratory dinner, a sophisticated gathering, or as a special bottle to enjoy with a gourmet meal. It's drinking well now but has the structure to evolve further.
