🏰 Château Clerc Milon, a Fifth Growth Pauillac, was acquired by Baron Philippe de Rothschild in 1970 and has since been revitalized, known for its classic Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant Bordeaux red wine. The 1981 vintage in Bordeaux was generally considered good, producing elegant wines that have aged gracefully.

🥂 This wine is perfect for a formal dinner, a celebration of a significant personal anniversary (e.g., 45th), or a deep dive into aged Bordeaux.
For a wine of this age, careful handling is key. Stand the bottle upright for several days to allow sediment to settle. Decant gently for 1-2 hours to separate sediment and allow the wine to open up. Serve at 15.5°C (60°F). Be prepared for a fragile cork and capsule.
BACKGROUND
Château Clerc Milon is a wine estate in the Pauillac district of the Médoc, rated as a fifth growth in the Bordeaux Classification of 1855. The vineyard covers 41 hectares (101 acres) of vines in the northeast of Pauillac, between the Mouton Rothschild and Lafite Rothschild properties on a crest overlooking the Gironde. The soil is predominantly made up of sandy clay over a clay-limestone base, and a slight slope helps with drainage. The Clerc Milon vineyard also benefits from the close proximity of the estuary, which helps to moderate the climate.
