🏰 The 2018 vintage for 布根地 (Burgundy) reds was "largely very good," characterized by one of the hottest and driest growing seasons since 2003. Despite this, a wet winter and spring provided ample water reserves, and ideal flowering conditions led to a successful, albeit large, harvest. Louis Jadot's 2018s are noted for being "extremely concentrated while remaining fleshy and juicy," offering more freshness and vibrancy than other warm vintages. The wines are full of fruit, sometimes flamboyantly so, with excellent color. While some Pinot Noir grapes experienced overripeness due to intense heat, and acidity retention could be a challenge, the best examples, like this Grand Cru, show great potential. The vintage is described as having "an extra dimension". This Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru from Louis Jadot is expected to be a powerful and expressive wine, reflecting the generous yet complex nature of the 2018 vintage. 【 Concentrated, fleshy, and vibrant from a hot yet successful 2018 vintage 】
🍴 This Grand Cru Pinot Noir demands equally grand food pairings. It is superb with roasted game birds such as pheasant or duck, classic beef bourguignon, and rich mushroom-based dishes, especially those featuring truffles. It also harmonizes beautifully with aged, soft cheeses like Époisses or Comté.
🥂 An exceptional choice for significant celebrations, elegant dinner parties, or as a valuable addition to a discerning cellar. This wine is versatile, suitable for both early enjoyment to appreciate its vibrant fruit, and for extended cellaring to allow its complex layers to unfold.
BACKGROUND
Louis Jadot is a prominent Burgundy wine producer and négociant. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the primary grape varieties featured. The house was established in Beaune in 1859 by Louis Jadot. The company has seen several leadership changes: Gagey's son Pierre-Henry took over as president in 1991, Gagey died in 1999, and Lardière retired in 2012. Frédéric Barnier, who joined in 2010, is now the head winemaker, and Thibault Gagey has joined his father Pierre-Henry in leading the firm.
