Joseph Drouhin, Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru, 2020
🏰Joseph Drouhin's Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2020 is a 【generous and distinctive wine, often superb, representing one of Gevrey's most perfumed and accessible Grand Crus】. Joseph Drouhin is a highly respected Burgundy négociant and domaine, known for its traditional approach and extensive Grand Cru holdings. The 2020 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is described as a generous and distinctive wine, often superb, and is considered one of Gevrey's most accessible and perfumed Grand Crus. It's a wine of supple red fruit and silken texture, rather than the structural muscle of other Chambertin Grand Crus. This wine presents an intense and bright color. On the nose, the first impression is of 【cherry, followed by woody and fine spicy aromas, with an elegant hint of musk】. The flavors are extraordinarily rich and harmonious, supported by fine and noble tannins that give a silky texture. Layers of black tea, sandalwood, and earthy minerality lead to an elegant, persistent finish.
🍴 An excellent match for duck, steak, game dishes, prime meats, morels, truffles, wild hare, or aged cheeses.
🥂 Ideal for a celebratory dinner, a special occasion with fine cuisine, or as a prized addition to a Burgundy collection, with drinking potential from 2028 to 2045.
BACKGROUND
Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy's most important wine producers, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir, with a small portion being Chardonnay. Founded in Beaune in 1880, the domaine has expanded throughout the 20th Century to include vineyards in Chablis, the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise, making everything from simple, village-level cuvées to highly priced grand cru and premier cru wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
