🏰 The 2005 Château Sigalas Rabaud, a Premier Cru Classé Sauternes from a fantastic vintage, offers a 【complex and refined bouquet of dried honey, marmalade, and quince, promising exceptional aging potential】. This vintage was marked by a healthy and abundant harvest, contributing to a wine of superb quality. On the palate, it is well-balanced with a lightly spiced entry, a honeyed texture, and notes of stem ginger, fig, and quince, leading to a long, harmonious, and sensual finish with bitter orange and honey. Its ample and powerful mouthfeel, with pear and pineapple aromas, is superbly balanced by a nice acidity.
🍴 This exquisite Sauternes is a classic pairing with foie gras, blue cheeses, and rich fruit tarts. It also beautifully complements roasted chicken with fruit stuffing or crème brûlée.
🥂 An ideal choice for celebratory desserts, special anniversaries, or as a luxurious aperitif, this wine is drinking beautifully now but has the potential to evolve gracefully for many more years.
BACKGROUND
Chateau Sigalas Rabaud takes its name from the two original owners of the estate, the Rabaud family, who owned the property prior to 1660 and the Sigalas family, who purchased the property in 1864. The 14 hectare Sauternes vineyard of Sigalas Rabaud, located in the commune of Bomme is planted to 98% Semillon and 2% Sauvignon Blanc. This represents a large reduction in the amount of Sauvignon Blanc previously planted in their vineyards. On average, the vines are 45 years of age. The terroir of Sigalas Rabaud consists of sand, gravel and clay soils.
