🏰 The 2013 Chantal Lescure Beaune Chouacheux 1er Cru, from an organic certified domaine, offers a 【vibrant expression of Pinot Noir from iron-rich clay-limestone soils】. While 2013 was a challenging vintage in Burgundy, Chantal Lescure's meticulous approach ensures quality. Expect a bright red/garnet color with very pretty high-toned aromas of cherry, raspberry, and violets, complemented by hints of licorice, earth, and spice. The palate is silky, fresh, and fruity, with fine tannins and a lingering mineral finish, showcasing both power and finesse.
🍴 Chinese Cantonese food pairing: This elegant red Burgundy is a superb match for delicate veal tenderloin, roasted duck breast with a cherry reduction, or matured cheeses. For a local touch, consider Cantonese roast goose or pan-fried beef with black pepper sauce.
🥂 fit for event suggestion: Ideal for a sophisticated dinner party, a romantic evening, or as a thoughtful gift for a Burgundy lover. Its balance and finesse make it enjoyable now with some decanting, or it can be cellared for further development.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Chantal Lescure was founded in 1975 by the husband and wife team Chantal Lescure and Xavier Machard de Gramont. They primarily cultivate Pinot Noir and a small amount of Chardonnay grapes. The estate spans approximately 18 hectares from Chambolle-Musigny in the Côte de Nuits to Volnay in the Côte de Beaune, a rarity in today's valuable Burgundy vineyard landscape. After Chantal's passing in 1996, her son Aymeric undertook a thorough restructuring of the estate and appointed François Chavériat as the estate manager.
